“I love to be able to create scenes that are not only nice to look at, and hopefully thought of as well painted, but also conjure up in the mind’s eye other more significant matters. This one makes me feel like our hopes and dreams are limitless.
These scenes maybe of a memory that plays an important part in a moment in life, or convey a quality that the characters that reminds you of a type of personality you know or have known.”

"This is an alternative view of the Aberdeenshire fishing village of Crovie. Cut off from its hinterland by very steep hills and cliffs, there is only one very steep road in and out of the village. The gable ends of the houses face the sea, to cope with all that the ocean can through at them. Here I wanted to capture the sense of calm felt after the storm." "Growing up in the west of Scotland, with the weather coming off the Atlantic, the east coast of the country seemed a strange and foreign land, rarely visited. With glorious sunrises, a drier climate and buildings with crow stepped gables, the Fife fishing villages had more in common with the Low Countries and Scandinavia. It was only in my adulthood that I started to appreciate this lovely corner of the world; another piece in the mosaic of scenery, culture and people that makes Scotland a very special place." "Although I grew up in the 1960s, the village where I was brought up felt more like the 1940's. Men went to work, few woman did; the majority of them running a household and bringing up kids. Grocery shopping was done, on food, on a daily basis. And I remember the determination and focus of these women. wrapped up in study wool coats and obligatory headscarves, moving from shop to shop" Boutique, Framed, Signed Limited Edition

"When I was creating work for my Youth and Young Manhood portfolio, I drew inspiration from old photographs of my Grandad a a young man. I was also influenced by a new TV series that a lot of people were talking about - so a number of my drawings and paintings also drew inspiration from the BBC series Peaky Blinders" Boutique, Framed, Signed Limited Edition

“Bonnie Lad is an expression that means 'hello, how are you' in Newcastle upon Tyne - as in ‘Alreet Bonnie Lad'. You’ll hear it all the time if you go to a pub and watch all the old chaps greet friends as they come and go. In Scotland, it's more of a description for a good looking guy. While I usually try to make the characters appear as though they could be anyone, I kept seeing a resemblance to George Clooney’s under the bonnet of this one.” Boutique, Framed, Signed Limited Edition
