“Bonnie Lad is an expression that means ‘hello, how are you’ in Newcastle upon Tyne – as in ‘Alreet Bonnie Lad’. You’ll hear it all the time if you go to a pub and watch all the old chaps greet friends as they come and go.
In Scotland, it’s more of a description for a good looking guy. While I usually try to make the characters appear as though they could be anyone, I kept seeing a resemblance to George Clooney’s under the bonnet of this one.”

"This should be called Lollipops OR 99's, because that was usually the choice offered on a day out - one or the other! Choosing between the immediate, luxurious high of chocolate and ice cream, or the longer lasting pleasue of a lollipop was a difficult decision for a wee boy to make.
