“My love of Scottish history has been influenced by various visual interpretations of my nation’s story through paintings, films and TV. So it’s no surprise that the iconic Eilean Donan Castle has always fascinated me.
The castle’s unique location on the junction of three sea lochs close to the Isle of Skye allows it to be illuminated by misty dawns, Atlantic sunsets and brooding mountain storms. The light from the sky and from the surrounding water constantly change the texture and mood of its fortified walls and main keep.

"This is an alternative view of the Aberdeenshire fishing village of Crovie. Cut off from its hinterland by very steep hills and cliffs, there is only one very steep road in and out of the village. The gable ends of the houses face the sea, to cope with all that the ocean can through at them. Here I wanted to capture the sense of calm felt after the storm." "Although I grew up in the 1960s, the village where I was brought up felt more like the 1940's. Men went to work, few woman did; the majority of them running a household and bringing up kids. Grocery shopping was done, on food, on a daily basis.
